A New Approach

The idea is to make money right? This is getting harder and harder all the time. Everyone is broke, gas prices are too high there are layoffs and the future looks gloomy. My wife and I had a real heart to heart, try as she may things with her Avon business were not only stagnant her reps were dropping like flies - what to do!

Well here's what we did....
Avon is for the most part cosmetics - right? Rather than give up on her Avon business altogether we decided to run another business alongside her Avon business. And so it was born our new baby - we now manufacture SOAP. She has plugged it into her Avon base and although things are slow they are certainly picking up. Each month she attends local flea markets and sells the soaps and lotions we have both created. (those wishing more information on getting started with a soap business you can check out www.millersoap.com (I think that's it).

Here's the point, you can't let the economy beat you, neither can you allow yourself to shrivel up and wait for the phone to ring. Instead think of a craft you can do (include your family and share the profits with them). There are lots of things you are good at, the items you create can be introduced to your Avon customers under your our "little" business - who knows you may be the next "Famous Amos".

Anyway I've got to go now I've got a batch of "Grandms' Lye soap with poppy seeds and cornmeal ready to blend. By the way if your interested the name of our little venture is "You Need Soap" catchy isn't it? The website has been registered and I'm currently working on it. (youneedsoap.com) Best of luck ladies.

Utilizing Myspace

You need as much exposure as is possible both for your recruiting efforts and to pick up new customers. A few months ago we've set up a Myspace account for just this purpose. the idea is actually very simple. Play with the design you like, tell folks about yourself and your business.
You'll have to invite Ladies in your area, decide how large of an area you want to include - say 25 miles and start inviting them to be on your Myspace friends list. As time goes by you can offer sales or institute a recruiting drive. we've added a video blurb promoting Avon found on Youtube.com. Your welcome to copy and past the same video on your page.
Does it work - like anything you have to work it. You can't simply set up the page and forget it, you have to keep it fresh. Its a good idea to add pictures of yourself or better yet pictures of products! What ever you do have fun with it and keep inviting - you will notice returns on your efforts.Ingrids Myspace Page
